- Power Outlets – Tanzania uses power plug and socket types D & G. The standard voltage is 230 V, with a standard frequency of 50 Hz. I always travel with a universal adapter to ensure I can keep all my devices and batteries fully charged.
- Safety – Tanzania is a generally safe country to visit.
- Water Safety – Drink only bottled water, which is readily available. Avoid drinking from the tap. I travel with a LARQ purifying water bottle just to be safe.
- Transportation – Uber is available in Dar Es Salaam. However, it is not available in most other parts of the country, including the island of Zanzibar.
Best Time To Go
For safari, the best time to visit Tanzania is during the dry season, from June to October. Typically wildlife viewing is generally at its best during these months. The wildebeest migration in the Serengeti takes place during June & July. Wildebeest calving can be witnessed from late January to February. The Northern Circuit Parks are the most popular, as they can be visited throughout the entire year.
The best time to visit Zanzibar is from June to October during the cool, dry spring months. Another popular time to visit this tropical island is during the summer months (December – February) when it is hot and dry.
There are two distinct trekking seasons that are considered to be the best time to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. The first being the months of January–March. This is the warmer of the two seasons.
The second climbing season runs from June–October. This season provides climbers with a higher probability of encountering snow on the summit
