Greece

Things To Know

  • Highlights – Acropolis, Santorini, Mykonos, Corfu, Delphi
  • Language – Greek
  • Currency – Euro (EUR)
  • Power Outlets – Greece uses power plug and socket types C & F. The standard voltage is 230 V, with a standard frequency of 50 Hz. I always travel with a universal adapter to ensure I can keep all my devices and batteries fully charged.
  • Safety – Greece is a generally safe country to visit.
  • Water Safety – Tap water is safe to drink in Greece. Some coastal towns and island towns may have brackish or poor tasting water, which is fine for brushing your teeth, but when it comes to drinking it, bottled water is preferred. I travel with a LARQ purifying water bottle just to be safe.
  • Transportation – There is no Uber in Greece, but taxis are readily available.

Best Time To Visit

Peak tourists season in Greece runs from late June through August. The summer months see the highest temperatures, highest prices, and largest crowds. If you are headed to places like Mykonos looking for a big party, this is your time to go.

The best time to visit Greece though is during the spring and fall. These shoulder seasons run from April to about mid-June and again from September through mid-October. During these months you will find pleasant weather and moderate temperatures with much smaller crowds.
